The Intro to Blackboard Collaborate workshop is a hands-on workshop where faculty will learn to successfully deliver live, interactive Collaborate sessions to support remote instruction. Through hands-on practice faculty will learn about the key features and core functions of the Collaborate interface.

- Zoom: Beyond the Basics

Looking to expand your use of Zoom? If you’re feeling good about setting up meetings and sharing your screen, but want to learn more about what Zoom can do, this is the session for you! In this session, you will learn how to:- share a whiteboard
- annotate the screen
- set up and facilitate polls
- enable remote control
- trim recorded meetings to cut out unwanted sections
- facilitate breakout rooms

Do you love the flexibility of teaching online but feel you lose some of your best strategies when you are behind the computer? Work with your colleagues to find ways that you can use some of your favorite in-class strategies in the online environment (for example, concept mapping, jigsaw, group notes/annotation, and more). Bring an online assignment or module (not a favorite) that you want to work on for this hands-on session. This session has a "choose your own adventure" design, so it is different each time. You will enjoy new content even if you have attended a previous session.

- Canvas | Meet the new editing tool!

Did you know the editing tool in Canvas got a facelift? The new user interface may be different, but it provides more editing space and easier access to frequently used tools. You will find the new editing tools all over Canvas whenever editing Announcements, Assignments, and Pages etc. Come learn how to use these tools and learn strategies for using Canvas to organize your content. Additionally, participants will learn how to create a syllabus in Canvas, import content, adjust the navigation, and publish items and their course.

In this session, you will learn how to: • access an existing Zoom meeting • create a Zoom meeting for instruction or office hours • send an invitation to your meeting • record a meeting • see which students have joined your meeting • share your screen with students • share your recorded meeting with students

In this session, participants will gain concrete strategies to amplify positive asynchronous and synchronous classroom behaviors, build a community of learners, and set the stage for active student-centered learning. We will try at least 5 different strategies that can be used in the very first class interaction to enhance classroom community. Participants will learn research-based information on the role of faculty-student interaction, how to introduce the course, and how to encourage student participation.

- Dropout Detective | Detect Your Way to Better Student Success

Are you spending a lot of time trying to figure out which students need help? There is a new tool, right in Canvas called Dropout Detective. With it, you can quickly and easily see which students are at risk so that you can get them the help that they need. Starting this spring semester, Dropout Detective will also be the place that you can "tag" or "alert" advisors that a student needs additional support.

How does HCC promote academic integrity when testing online students without requiring them to visit campus or other certified testing centers? Find out how you can use Respondus to provide remote testing capabilities for your students. In this hands-on session, you’ll gain experience using Respondus Monitor as a student, as well as learn how to set it up as the instructor. Upon completion of the session, you’ll have the tools and resources to set it up in your course and explain to students how to use the tools. We will also review best practices to assure online exam integrity and make sure that your students can successfully test.
