- When using text with images, demonstrate how to approach reviewing and annotating images
- Explain the required transition from memorization to critical thinking in a college environment
- Allow reading in class (as an activity)
- At the start of the semester, survey students about reading practice/behaviors, possible initial challenges
- Have students read articles outside of class but then discuss them via chat (be sure to provide them with intent of reading and themes to discuss)
- When possible, offer selections of professional articles for students to read about their discipline as practitioners in the field do.
